Modern Societies Lack Of Skills

We have all heard about the labor shortages happening, and some call it a labor reassessment like Washington Post’s Article about the labor shortage analysis. This is true I believe and here’s my point of view on these topics.

Labor Shortage or Labor Reassessment?

What is labor reassessment? In my own words, people are finally fed up with working retail jobs or other jobs where they don’t feel like they’re are valued or even as simple as the “I don’t want to do this for the rest of my life.” mentality.

During this pandemic that the world had endured, people realized that these jobs are temporary, also some employees probably weren’t all able to take care of the employees they had. Which of course is understandable in some sense and that's where each country had to take care of its citizens.

During this hibernation of sorts, people were awakened, and some people learned new skills and got started on a part of life they never knew they were able to be a part of. Now there are pros and cons to this situation. Some of the pros are that these let's be honest “throwaway employees” by industries standards found something they really enjoyed or found new skills and trades that would give them better lives. The cons are that the industries that the employee left now have fewer people that work there. Also, there’s the portion of the population's workforce that sadly to say did not make it past the pandemic.

Now from the employer's side, not having a high workforce to run factories, farms. retail ..etc. the main point here is that these low skill employees found jobs they would rather do. Also to be fair the employers probably could pay up more if their workforce is important to them.

Now some of the issues besides the older generations who have skills the youth will not inherit these skills or trades unless they go into programs. So now there will be a shortage of skilled workers and builders. Honestly, people should go back to work or learn more skills. Who will build the new societies and civilizations? Even though robots can build it takes a lot of money to build those bots before the bots even happen you need a workforce to build and maintain the robots. One way or another whether is a labor reassessment or labor shortage people need more skills. In conclusion this only affects us badly because people need to work.

Thank you for reading have a wonderful day.
